Guinness Book of Records 1956
The Guinness Book of Records.  London:  Guinness Superlatives Ltd., 1956
The "Oriten" was built around 1898 by the Waltham Manfacturing Company in Massachusetts.  It measured 23 feet 9 inches and weighed in at 305 pounds.  It's now on display at the Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.  Incidentally, the Waltham Manufacturing Company produced America's first motorcycle.  Company co-founder Charles Herman Metz is credited with being the first to use the word "motor cycle" in an 1899 advertisement for the company's "Orient" motor bicycle.  For more information, visit  The World of Motorcycles.
